Using Thermodynamics and Simulations to Understand Selectivity and Retention in Gas Chromatography

چکیده
Retention and selectivity in gas chromatography (GC) occur because of the thermodynamics phase transition from vapor following sample injection to solution being dissolved stationary phase. Analytes then move along column is flowing. In this installment, we quickly review basic underlying separation GC, see how impacts retention. Last month, saw seemingly large differences polarity may still generate little, or even opposite, effect on retention confusion difficulty method development. This explore challenge more in-depth using a freely available online GC simulator.

EFFECTS OF TEMPERATURE AND PERCENTAGE OF ORGANIC MODIFIER ON RETENTION AND SELECTIVITY IN RP-HPLC USING SOLVATION PARAMETER MODEL
Effects of temperature and percentage of organic modifier were studied on retention and selectivity in RP-HPLC using solvation parameter model. The system constants were determined by multiple linear regression analysis from experimental values in the retention factor for a group of different solutes with known descriptors by computer using the program SPSS/PC. The experimental results showed t...
متن کاملGas Chromatography I. Retention, Efficiency and Resolution Purpose
Purpose In this experiment you will examine the effect of temperature on retention in isothermal gas chromatography, and use this information to determine the heat of solution of the solute in the stationary phase and to determine the temperature for optimum retention. You will also examine the effect of flow rate on efficiency and construct a van Deemter plot, and determine the flow rate for o...
متن کاملSteady-State and Dynamic Simulations of Gas Absorption Column Using MATLAB and SIMULINK
Separation is one of the most important process in all the chemical industries and the gas absorption is the simplest example of separation process which is generally used for the absorption of dilute components from a gaseous mixture. In the present work, a dynamic system of mathematical equation (algebraic and differential) is modeled to predict the behavior of the absorption column using mat...
